Ms. Lightbourne’s professional journey began in Management Consulting where she was an advisor to senior leaders in the Intelligence Community and oversaw more than 50 National Security projects that sought to detect and mitigate hazards to human life and critical infrastructure. She shaped the strategic direction of programs valued at over $50 million in appropriations. She later became a Brookings Institution Legis Congressional Fellow through which she was the first Foreign Policy and Defense Fellow for a Representative in the U.S. House of Representatives where she led research and supported Congressional actions that addressed global human rights, peacekeeping, and defense activities. In aviation, she was the visionary for a suite of machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities that sought to enhance aviation safety through data analytics.
Today, Ms. Lightbourne is a Deputy Executive Leader in aviation where she oversees aspects of safety enhancement across the commercial aviation industry. Achievements throughout her career earned her the prestigious Women of Color Technology Rising Star Award in 2021, 2023 South Florida’s Most Prominent and Influential Black Woman in Business & Industry Honor, as well as 2024 Most Powerful and Influential Black Business Leaders Honor. Today Ms. Lightbourne serves her community as an Executive Director on several Executive Boards.
